In March 2022, with growing numbers of Ukrainians fleeing the country, The Berkhamsted and Tring Hosting Network (BATUHN ) was formed. Since then, we have rehoused over 150 Ukrainians in our local area, many of whom are children.
This fund supports both hosts and Ukrainian guests throughout their Homes for Ukraine journey, through initiatives run by the network. These currently include free weekly English lessons for the guests, weekly coffee mornings and the running of ‘The Free Shop’ for guests.
Our latest initiative, in partnership with Community Action Dacorum and Citizens Advice Dacorum is a specialist weekly service from the Citizens Advice Bureau for Ukrainian living in HP23 and HP4. This will provide much needed access to knowledgeable, trained staff and interpreters who can support them as they navigate their new lives here including questions around housing, employment, education, benefits and more.
BATUHN is run by volunteers and we have no admin costs or overheads, so 100% of your contribution will go to where it is most needed.
