Some other events we would like to mention include the local council coming along to one of our meet ups in Tring. We had a stall at Tring Carnival in 2024 which was supported well by the community.
We would like to show our Gratification to Tring Baptist Church for holding our weekly meet ups and English lessons, and Open Door in Berkhamsted for holding our weekly English lessons.
Ben Moorhouse from Our Bookshop in Tring for doing a fundraiser and raise £750.00 for English Textbooks to help the student with learning the language.
July 2024, Visiting St.Albans Abbey
St. Albans Abbey visit in July 2024, organised by Nicola Holden (English Teacher Lead).
A group of the English teachers took 10 guests to visit the Cathedral. One guests feedback from the trip: We all had a really wonderful time in St. Albans, The highlight was a tour in the catherdal with light projection of restored medieval wall paintings. Amazing what technology can do nowadays! Thank you to everyone who made the trip possible.
February 2024 & 2025.
We are very grateful to the Ministers from Tring Baptist Church for the annual service of reflection. Joe & Ruth Egan delivered a beautiful service to help all Ukrainians reflect and pray for loved ones effected by the War in Ukraine, in February both years. The Guests were able to light some candles during the service. Again a massive thank you to Tring Baptist Church for making all Ukrainians welcome to the area.
Trustee News.
We would like to show our appreciation to Kate Benton for being our Treasurer from the beginning to April 2025, She was a talented and loved Trustee, who will be sorely missed. We wish her luck with her new adventures.
Since Kate's leaving we have gained two new trustees, these are
Alan Linfield who has helped with Tring meet ups since they were introduced.
The second new trustee is Christina Paduchak, Christina is a Ukrainian lady who arrived in the UK after the War started. She brings a lot of great knowledge regarding the Ukrainian culture, which we hope will help us support all in our area.
Please help us make them welcome to the charity. If you are interested in becoming a trustee follow the link above.
Christmas Party
Every year since 2022 we have held a Christmas party to help all Ukrainians in the area celebrate with new found friends. We supply a lovely buffet of festive food and drinks (mulled wine is a favourite). Each child receives a Christmas present and a chocolate selection box from the charity.
With gratefully received donations of unwanted new items we receive from the local community and businesses we are able to allow the children to wrap a Christmas present for their parent(s) and/or grand parent(s). These are very important to the children as they do not friends or relatives that can take them shopping for gifts. We found a lot of the children were worried their parents would not receive any presents and asked us to help. We asked the local community and were very grateful for the donations of gifts and wrapping paper. Hoping to be able to do the same again this year (2025).
